Problem with Windows Explorer last used folder...

I download files and images all the time from a web browser but it always defaults to the "save to" folder in Chrome. Chrome will not except an empty field in the settings “save to” field. Even when ask where to save files to is checked.

My problem is that I am always creating new folders and it is a pain in the ass to always have to browse to where I want to download to every single time. Sometimes these folders are 3-4 levels deep. And when you are downloading say... 20-30 files, It's a royal pain.

So, I need to be able to get Windows 10 setup so I can have it open to the last used folder anytime I do a right click to save a file from the web.

None of the recent file or folder settings apply to this.

I tried EYplorer and it will not do this.

Click the folder you want, click the 'Save' or equivalent button.

(Listary does a whole lot more too).

Browsers may offer an option to specify a default save folder, or perhaps need an add-on/extension which offers a 'Save as' dialogue.

Thank you for the kind reply, however, that is not what I asked.

It is easy to set a default folder. I DO NOT want to download to a default folder. My downloads will be to different folder all the time, as stated above. And sometimes these folders are 3-4 or more levels deep. When having the "save as" folder pop up every time I go to download something, I STILL have to browse to the folder I wish to save to.

As for Explorer - I've currently switched to Tablacus Explorer but it takes a while to customise.

It remembers last folder used when browsing files/ folders but browser last download location is a browser setting.

There are lots of addons available.

Suggest running it without shellexecutehook addon and test it for a few weeks. It takes some getting used to.

It also only updates manually via Help > Check for updates.

There is also an addons updater.

Qttabbar provides these for file explorer only, being an addon for that. I use that too- it too has many more features.

I have tried Vivaldi and it is exactly what I needed. Will save me a ton of frustration.

FYI: I looked at extensions that place downloads into specified folders based on user created rules but they only work if subfolders are created in the default downloads folder in chrome.

Yes... to me that is exactly the way it should be and exactly what I wanted.

PS - The only thing I have not figured out yet is how to get Vivaldi to put all my bookmark folders in the bookmarks are like I have them in Chrome.
