    1. Please type Regedit into Start Menu.
    2. Go to HKEY_Classes_Root\CLSID\*CLSID*.

Note: *CLSID* stand for the ID that appears in your event viewer error.

    3. Right click on it then select Permission.
    4. Click Advance and change the owner to Administrators. Also click the box that will appear below the owner line.
    5. Click Apply and grant full control to Administrators.
    6. Close the tab then go to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\AppID\*APPID*.

Note: *AppID* is the ID that appears in your event viewer.

    7. Right click on it then select Permission.
    8. Click Advance and change the owner to Administrators.
    9. Click the box that will appear below the owner line.
    10. Click Apply and grant full control to Administrators.
    11. Close all tabs and go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools.
    12. Open Component Services.
    13. Click Computer, click My computer, then click DCOM Config.
    14. Look for the corresponding service that appears on the error viewer.

Note: For this step, look for the one that appeared at the right panel of the RegEdit. For example, the AppID {4839DDB7-58C2-48F5-8283-E1D1807D0D7D} registry key contains the "ShellServiceHost" data with a (Default) as a value name. Now look for "ShellServiceHost".

    15. Right click on it then click Properties.
    16. Click Security tab then click Customize in the Launch and Activation permissions section. Click Edit. Click Add. Add a Local Service. Then Apply.
    17. Tick the Local Activation box.
I had this same error event ID 10016 showing up repeatedly for AppID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}. In looking at it in Regedit it should be RuntimeBroker. I think I did all these instructions correctly, but I got unexpected results after rebooting.

Upon reboot I got, "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID Windows.SecurityCenter.WscDataProtection and APPID Unavailable"

How do I look that up?

Since doing as previous above and the system is running ok from boot etc.

Although if I check event logs the error is still there, but as said everything appears to be ok.

So now I don't bother trying to solve the errors.

I understand your frustration. I recently just fixed some 10016 errors only to have them return. Microsoft is starting to get on my last circuit of sanity because it seems like it is some game to them to slow down our computers with these errors.

This article is what I have been following lately.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...abbe349?page=2

Clyde Wynter's response in that article is what I completely agree with. These errors are having an effect on CPU usage, booting times/problems, system freezes and printing problems regardless of Microsoft claiming otherwise. As far as I'm concerned, Microsoft is trying to gain further control of our systems and claiming these errors are harmless when the proof is there proving them wrong.

I swear Microsoft is doing this crap on purpose and every month I have to find a new article to follow to stop the 10016 errors and furthermore, the usual tactics of fixing these errors are obsolete.
This errors are also related to issues with certain Online Games (you'll find multiple entries on google - while searching for this error). More exactly: at random times the game menu goes black - while joining/starting the game. You still have sound but the screen is black. Windows still works, sort of... as in... if you try to alt + tab you might see the preview windows in task bar (sometimes, you can't even do that / the window is stuck on the black screen - tho, you can still see the mouse pointer as a loading circle - indefinitely) - but you can't bring them upfront (you can't access any of those by clicking on them). Same goes for trying to access Task Manager (be it through ctr+alt+del or crtl + shift + esc) - while aiming to close that given task (the game in question). Ctrl + Alt + Del is the only thing that still works. And even tho - you can't access task manager - you can still Sign Out or Restart. So yeah, Windows isn't frozen. Unfortunately, if it's a competitive game (rank) - you just lost some points and get a Leaver penalty (as if you left the game intentionally).

I don't know about others, but up till build 1809 (177630) - i never had this issue.

In the past - major windows updates were meant to fix a lot of issues, while now... it's the main thing that could brake it in one way or the other. Like they did with Build 1803 - where they broke the custom color profiles for laptops with Intel GPU. Tho, since it affects only the people with calibrated monitors (usually managed by an external tool - yet, it can also be set with the windows tools / still broken - doesn't matter what tool you use), as in - a very small minority of Windows users... this issue was neglected (still present after dozens of cumulative updates and same goes for latest major update - which caused more troubles than any other major update up to this point). Anyway, that's a whole nother story - meant for another topic... but still caused by a windows update.

All - SInce I continue to get new Warnings about
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
    {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}
    and APPID
    {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}
I thought I might try to add the "missing" permission settings in dcomcnfg. HOWEVER, when I hit the Edit button in Launch and Activation Permissions on the Security tab in Properties for PerAppRuntimeBroker, I got this:

That is a new one on me. I hit Cancel.

Also, I searched regedit for the AppID {15c20b67-12e7-4bb6-92bb-7aff07997402}, and I did not see anything that looked like the mentioned nondisplayable permission entries.

What is that Windows Security warning, and what happens to my life if I hit Remove?

    Thanks.

I continue to get new Warnings about after upgrading to V 2004 here we go again?
Application specific settings permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM server application with CLSID{2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} and APPID{15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}WINDOWS-10 \ SID Piero user (S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-739638877-xxxxxxxxx-1001) from LocalHost address (via LRPC) running in the application container SID Not available (Not available). To change this security permission, you can use the Component Services administrative tool.
I thought add the "missing" permission settings in dcomcnfg, but unfortunately nothing changes.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks

Yes, I do. But just what you do not want to hear.

Ignore them, they are harmless. They were harmless on 1909 and 1903, and 1809, etc. They are harmless on 2004.

    They are Warnings, not Errors.

    Ignore them.
