    Battery and Network Icon

Anyway to get the power icon to show anytime I'm on battery? I need don't need to see it when I'm plugged into AC, I only want to see how much juice I have remaining when I'm on battery.

Same with the network icon, I only want it to appear when I'm using WiFi so I can see the signal strength, I don't need or want to see it when I'm plugged into Ethernet, I only want it to show on WiFi...

These things used to be simple but Microsoft seems to be making exact customization hard.

Click on the gear, Personalization > Select which items appear on the taskbar, I'm on a desktop at the moment and don't have a wireless adapter so those items aren't available for me to choose. I have mine set to show all icons on the taskbar.

On my laptop, the battery icon changes to show plugged in when it's not running on battery, and I only use wireless on the laptop so its icon is always there.

That's the problem, in there it has only "Network" which shows both Ethernet and WiFi. I remember before there was a checkbox on the adapter that said something like, "notify when active"???

I can't be sure about the 'Notify when active', I don't remember. I did just check my laptop and it only has 'Network' in taskbar items, I've only used it on wireless, I plugged it into the LAN and the wireless icon changed to the wired internet icon. It looks like a small monitor with a LAN cable on the left side of it, as soon as I unplugged the network cable the icon changed back to the wireless icon.

The same with the power icon, as it runs on battery, when you hover the cursor over the icon it shows percentage of full charge and remaining time. As soon as it's plugged in, it shows either charging or full charge, the icon stays the same.

The laptop is W10 Pro, (Second PC under My System Specs) I would expect W10 Home to be the same for these items.

Yup, that's the same as I have but my previous laptop with Win 10 had WiFi option as well. Not just network.

I'm also noticing other nuances that are different like I don't have the option to color just the title bars. I did before but I don't seem to have that option anymore (with this new laptop). Windows 10 Home.

Got the 1809 update today that gave me everything I was missing and fixed the HID Sensor Collection v2 driver problem I was having. I had to manually install the update since the automatic kept failing. What a difference a day makes...

Good to hear the problem(s) were resolved with an update!

It did take a bit of effort as you had to manually update to 1809, but it could've been worse.

If you feel this issue is fixed (and it sounds like it is) please mark this thread solved
