Why am I getting this strange visual artifact with Windows 10 menus?

I have one desktop where this thing happens. It's my email server that stays on for months at a time. I've been noticing that over time Windows 10 Start menu begins to show weird visual artifacts. (This by the way doesn't happen to non-Windows 10 user interface, to what Microsoft now calls "desktop apps".)

So take a look, this is how my start menu looked like today (I masked my location on the weather app, but the rest is unedited):

Note that I try to install the latest updates and don't install any software after everything was installed originally. Also if I sign out and then log back in this visual glitch goes away (for a while.)

    How can I fix this?

Hi, not seen anything like that, but my PCs are shut down overnight. Further, I normally don't use Win 10's start menu- it's quite incapable of handing my large nested start menu, as are all such Win 10 style designs.

Yeah, the same here. I don't use Start menu either. Unfortunately just to sign out or reboot computer you have to use it. But as you see that menu was also blank. So I had to use shutdown \r \t 0 from command line to reboot the system. (I think that's the command.)

At this point I'm just curious what's causing it? Is it some driver? Or some component that needs to be reinstalled?

    - suggests a link with fast startup perhaps?

Worth running the troubleshooter at least, and the you have the other options to play with.

over time Windows 10 Start menu begins to show weird visual artifacts.
    - only thing I can think of bar research is a process of elimination- which from your description would be slow and painful.

There's a sort of interesting suggestion in post #10 here:

Have you checked your disk and RAM? As it happens over a long period, could there be some sort of degradation?

A simple fix would be to schedule a restart once a week or once a month.
