Hi, ShareX is a little harder to use, but here you can see the window is listed:

and I have set it to prompt me as to where to save the screenshot- example:
I cant make a screenshot of task manager-taskmgr_2019-02-12_19-26-25.png

What do you see happen? Screenshot would help.

Note: if stuck or want to capture a dropdown, say, that otherwise disappears, use PrtSc or equivalent, then paste into, say, Paint, to select what you want, as I did with the first one.

A difficulty with task manager is that it is set to be 'on top' - so for example, if I try to capture it with a rectangle, that rectangle using Duckcapture, the rectangle seems to be drawn UNDER the window, but does work.

Snip & Sketch works ok for me. and the rectangle selection is drawn on top of the window:

Are you saying, that the Windows Key I cant make a screenshot of task manager-windows-key.svg.png + the Print Screen (PRTSC) I cant make a screenshot of task manager-windows-key.svg-copy.png Key combo,
    isn't creating a screenshot?

The first part of the first post appears to say that works, but

I think we need an appropriate screenshot to see what actually is being attempted and how.

Wouldn't the native windows snipping tool be able to do this.
I use it often, without any issues.

I guess we need to wait for a response form the OP.

I'm having the same issue. I can take all the screenshots I want, but NOT of the task manager. The screenshots just never appear with the rest of them.

I just made one of this forum screen, but when I switch over to task manager, no screenshots are created with the same button press.

This is the best way to snip any "live" application window

Standard built-in Windows key functions: Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn will copy the current active window to the clipboard - even if it's Task Manager. You can then paste it into an app such as Paint to save it, or paste directly into a post, like this...
