File Explorer: Unhide files not working

In my music folders, there are files that are not being displayed. How do I get them to display?

Please note that hidden files is in fact set to display.

Are they hidden by other software?
Are they visible in Safe Mode? If you boot to a command prompt?

How do you know they are there?

When did they vanish? What happened beforehand?

    Thanks.

The advanced option to unhide protected OS files revealed them again.

Hmm, a musical OS? How did that attribute get applied to them, I wonder?

If these are jpg files then they are the pictures/icons used by such applications as WMP when displaying tracks in icon view ["Expanded tile" view]. Some hidden *.ini files can also be in those folders and they relate to view settings for that folder in File explorer.

The files have the attributes HS and it will not harm anything to leave them hidden all the time.

The point then being if that's the sort of file to which you are referring, they are hidden for a purpose- for normal use you should leave them so that file operations on that folder can't touch them.
