Just a FYI that trying to add Group Policy to an unsupported edition usually ends in disaster, or doesn't work well.

I agree. I tried that trick in Windows 8 and the Group Policy thing did not work. The thing is that the gpedit that you download on a unsuported version of Windows I think is from the XP days. I still don't understand why someone like winaero does not write a tool that has Group Policy Editor tweaks in the 3rd party program. What the program will do is look at the registry files and let you tweak them but using the program which will be much easier. Still after all of these years and no such program.

I swore that I would never get the Home version of Windows again after Vista. What really gets me was I bought this Dell computer in April and I opted for Windows 8 Home because I though that Microsoft will give all upgrades Windows 10 Pro like they did when they released Windows 8 upgrade. If I would have know it would have known that the upgrade was going to be the limited Home version I would have paid more and got Windows 8 Pro right from Dell.

Microsoft made it clear early on that Windows 8 Home would upgrade to Windows 10 Home.

Well it cannot end in disaster if there is a system image. And I have added gpedit to various Windows 8.1 home editions without experiencing problems.

A bit old topic, but might still come in need for people with non windows 7 ultimate/windows 10 pro editions.
You can still edit group policies in Windows 10 Home, but you have to do it manually.
It's kinda odd nobody made a custom Windows 10 Group Policy Editor for people with Home editions, since the full documentation is available..
Microsoft has Group Policy Reference available for download on their site, and works very well (ofcourse, since the settings are the same on all editions) on Windows 10 Home too..
    See+download here.

    That's product segmentation for ya.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there is some sort of MS licensing voodoo preventing third party applications from adding a GP cloning. Same with shoe-horning domain joining capability in Home.

    Windows 10 Pro X64

    Hi,

Installed this on Home editions a couple of times and it works just fine:

Makes sure to follow the extra steps for X64 editions.

    Cheers,

Not really missing GPEdit in Home anymore than to the Winaero Tweaker. Many annoyances that before can only be fixed in the Pro version with GPEdit can be fixed using the Tweaker.

I found this without looking for it.

I have not tried it with Home but with Winaero I don't really need it anymore.
