Possible to add a file attribute for only one computer?

My question is the title, is this possible?

Let's say I have a .txt file that I want to add a file attribute only for my guidance, for example the number of lines or a clue of which is inside, but that file I will transfer it to another people and I don't want them to know that information. Is this possible to add a file attribute only for the computer which it was created (or for specific computers)?

    Thank you

No, not as an attribute. However in the ntfs file system it is possible for a file to have an alternate data stream, content that can only be read if you know it's there. Mind you, it's not particularly convenient as needs a Powershell command to read it. Copying such a file to a USB that has a Fat32 format to give it to another person will loose the alternate data stream as alternate data streams are only supported for ntfs files.

    For more details, see here:

Edit: as a test, I've just emailed that text.txt file to myself. That too stripped it of its alternate data stream

PS: please excuse the spelling mistake in the example above, I left out the 'b' in 'publicly'....

Thank you @Bree I was unknown of this method and it's interesting, but sadly, isn't what I was looking for

    Hello @Alesyth0h,

I think you may mean "file property details" (aka: metadata) instead.

However, I believe the details you add will travel with the file unless manually removed first.

That's it! Metadata! I was forgetting something.

    Thanks, Brink.

The method @Bree mentioned works for metadata too. Copying it to fat32 will clean it from the file.
