Desktop boots to a black screen with cmd open
Hi all, for a while now whenever I turn on my computer and log on, I am greeted with a black desktop screen and cmd open.
i am able to open explorer.exe from cmd and my computer runs fine there afterwards. I have ran a few virus scans and everything seems clean.
Any suggestions?

Open a Run box (Windows key+R), type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Boot tab.
Make sure No GUI Boot is unchecked. Uncheck if it is checked then reboot.

Bizarre. Have you tried the standard DISM and sfc checks? The other "obvious suspect" is the graphics driver. What's up with that? At least, you can bring the desktop back by running explorer.exe, so you're not dead in the water. Sorry for your trouble.
