How can I avoid recompression of JPG wallpaper images

    Hey all.

To keep this as brief as I can, I'm having trouble with wallpaper compression. I already have the image compressed to what I want, and Win10 further compresses it. Why?
I have already gone into the registry, and correctly added 'JPEGImportQuality' under the specified location, with the decimal value set to 100. I can then reset the image as my wallpaper, and it will correctly set an uncompressed image, but later, for some reason, it reverts back to the low quality recompressed image.
I have seen some people mention converting the image to PNG bypasses the compression, but I'd like to avoid doing that.

    What is going on here?

So use .bmp files instead. Or .png files.

With that, I'm assuming there isn't a solution then? Man, this OS is just the worst...

No, jpg files are the worst. The world is .png. Do it.

I get it, of course, it's just that, why would Microsoft think it's a good idea to further compress something that is already compressed? I choose to use JPG because it is light, considering wallpaper images are gigantic.
When small things that should never be an issue become an issue in Win10, it's just very frustrating. It was already a task to get this OS up and running like I want, and I'm still running into problems, even after a month of use already.
It's all just very frustrating, and it doesn't help when I said in my OP that I didn't want to have to go through the trouble of converting to PNG, yet you tell me that anyway. I have my reasons for this, so since you only give me that option, I can only assume there is no other option, which to me is sad, and a poor example of this OS.
