For drivers, unless you are a pc enthusiast/gamer only graphics drivers are needed, to be updated when you have a discrete graphics card, and maybe realtek(new ones are NOT always better though) but with a clean install of Windows the Realtek EQ and sound effects are missing. .

Other than that Win 10 is really good about drivers..

Have you already gone through everything in the settings app?

Take special care in the privacy section, as if something doesn't have permission, it could affect use of an app.

If you are not going to use the virtual assistant Cortana, you can turn her off too, I did that after a while just because I never really used her, and prefer to use my keyboard & mouse, and doing things myself(to each his/her own).
    I work in 3D Animation, VFX. Specifically lighting/rendering. I don't use PC's for gaming.

I have read and heard a lot that Windows 10 can be annoying for privacy things and even turning off/updating while people were actually working. So I do not want to be seeing any of that nonsense going on :) It makes zero sense and makes you wonder who thinks up these ideas to actually make it happen.

For Cortana, I have not really looked into what it is yet. I am nearly sure I read that it is only available in certain countries anyway?

Another thing to look at for Win10 security is, in BIOS make sure virtualization is turned on(VT-d & VT-x), and then go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features click "turn Windows features on or off" in the upper left hand corner, then select Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform, and then Defender can use more security options. I looked and your XEON supports them.

Oh yeah, probably the most important thing:

Install Macrium Reflect(or any other disk imaging tool.
We have a thread for MR here: New Macrium Reflect Updates Solved - Windows 10 Forums

And @Kari has a tutorial on setting it up here and using it here: Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect | Tutorials

    Thanks Cliff S,

Yes I had intended on doing a system image, as I did in Windows 7. I used Macrium for that yes.

Some say Aomei Backupper is good too and even more simple.

Aomei is good too, it's just that the majority of users in Ten Forums use MR and a few of them are also in MR's forums, so if help is needed one gets better support here with MR than Aomei.

But like everything else in computer software, it's a personal choice(just like browsers & antivirus/antimalware).

Yeah, that is it. Whatever you prefer.

Just another question - I used CCleaner on Windows 7 a lot to clear temp files/junk. Does this work well on Windows 10?

Usually just a custom version adding the OEMs name and a minor version number but no changes?

Yes, I use it in 10. However, I'd strongly recommend avoiding its registry cleaning functions (in W10 or W7). Used too 'enthusiastically', registry cleaning risks causing more problems than it 'cures'.
