Win 10 Clipboard History Stopped Working

    Hi,

I recently upgraded to 1809, everything was fine for a couple of days, then the clipboard history feature suddenly stopped working.
When I go into settings to switch it on, it seems to be enabled, however once I close the window or choose something else and navigate back, the radio button is back to disabled.
    Also worth mentioning:
    - Get Started button (for sync across devices) does nothing
    - Clear clipboard data crashes the whole Win Settings window
    - Tried sfc /scannow, nothing changed
    - Registry settings look just fine - screenshot here: Whats App Image 2019 01 15 at 00 57 01 — Postimage.org

    Any suggestions please?
I was really excited to get rid of third party software for this, but I really don't want to format the whole thing for a stupid bug.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi, any change if
    a. you do a clean boot
    b. you create a new user for test purposes and log in as that user?

Do you have any restore points you could use?

FWIW my clipboard history looks ok...

    Thank you.

I went back to 1803 and redid the upgrade process. Seems to be ok.
I think after 1809 (the first time) there was a set of 2-3 small updates - maybe one of those messed up something.
    I'll keep it under surveillance.

I had a test user account, but had the same problem.
Did not try clean boot, but will do if it happens again.

    Thanks.

    Hi, glad it's working.

You could have done an in-place upgrade repair install of 1809 using an 1809 iso- would have been a bit less work.

I hope you are also using disk imaging routinely as people so often advocate here. Create or update your disk image before and after each major change and periodically.

Macrium Reflect (free) + external storage e.g.

Much quicker to restore an image, although that affects EVERYTHING on the disk or partition restored.

    My build is 17763.253

    Thanks.
Did not know about Reflect. I am using Acronis - at the time I built the rig, it was the only one that could detect the NVME drive.
