    Power Shell Shuts Down Immediately

Trying to fix a 'memory management error' on Win10 I'm told to run scannow.

So I try to run PowerShell. It flickers into life and then immediately disappears.

I try to find it in the search bar and find I can't type into the search field !

    ?

Right-click the Start button and check the list for PowerShell, should be 2 entries. Also, the command is actually sfc /scannow, the sfc = system file check.

You can also put cmd or Command Prompt in the Search box to use the version that PowerShell is replacing.

Yep, there's two entries ordinary and admin. Neither will run. Yep, I know, sfc, should have said that I guess.

got a little further. ran cmd from new task in task manager and it came up and stayed there. so then I had this line to input to get powershell in order to fix this task bar thing and whatnot.. (following https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0aa4734?auth=1 ) I got this:

    C:\windows\system32>PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
Windows PowerShell terminated with the following error:
The type initializer for 'Microsoft.PowerShell.ConsoleHost' threw an exception.

    C:\windows\system32>

So I might have discovered the problem with powershell. What's the fix I wonder? And I wonder why this fix for the search bar thing requires powershell and can't do it with an admin cmd...

p.s. No, I can't put anything in the search box. It is not responsive to keystrokes.
