Go into Task Manager, click on the Startup tab and look for "Windows Host Process(Rundll32)". If you find it, right-click it and select "Disable".

    Could it be that simple?

That would be really nice. I had read so much on RunDll errors that it seems they are making it way more complicated than what it really is to get rid of them.

Do you have a full system backup image in place ? If so, you could try Autoruns by MS to see if the dll in question shows in there. If it does, you can just remove the tick next to it (do not delete it for the time being ), and then see if you still get the error message on boot.

I told you there were people on here that could solve it ten times quicker. Ben helped me out before and if it weren't for him and others like him, I would've trashed a couple of computers by now.

Thanks for marking it solved as well - sometimes posters forget to mark it solved and browsers will just skip over the thread because a possible solution may not be posted and they don't want to read through a hundred or so posts to find out.

There've been several occasions in the past where I've been stuck just like this one which for non-techies like myself it's been impossible to know what to do or where to go otherwise....

I'm just thankful there are volunteers on here willing to share their unlimited knowledge about these matters. You would be amazed at how a little problem like you were having could end up costing a lot more than just a headache.
