    How to Decompress Windows Files

A few days ago two of my program shortcuts (Roblox Player and Roblox Studio) suddenly had the compression sign on the top right corner. I tried to decompress them through properties and then reset my pc, and it seems to have worked, but the icon is still there. The only reason I'm want it decompressed is for visual reasons, so this is quite anoying for me. Another thing I found is that all of my other shortcuts are compressed as well (some of these include discord and dropbox), but the icon doesn't show. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated :)

Go into the properties of the file > advanced and uncheck compression.

Then in a command prompt type compat /u "path/filename"

A change (1803????) to Windows 10 turns on compression on some computers without you asking for it or knowing about it. There was a discussion about it recently here:

Starts about here and goes on for quite awhile: Windows 10 October 2018 Update rollout now paused

Also more on this here: Win10 keeps compressing C drive files (new and old). Cannot stop it. Solved - Windows 10 Forums.

You are low on disk space more than likely.
KB4023057 might have something to do with the recent spate of users suffering this problem:

"This update may compress files in your user profile directory to help free up enough disk space to install important updates."

I have 42.3GB avalible, and have had less that that avalible before, so I doubt that that's a problem.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. How big is your Windows folder? The stated purpose of KB4023057 is to free up space to install updates. If the update to be installed is the features update to 1809 then you'll need enough space to put your current Windows in a windows.old folder, that's in addition to the 3GB or so to be downloaded for the update.

Note that KB4023057 also says it will undo the compression when the update is finished...
After you install the update, your files are restored to their original state, and the blue arrows disappear from the file icons in File Explorer. At any point during the update process, you should be able to access your files.

When you run the programs again, icon will dissappear (at least for me). V1809 17763.253 here.
