Ok, 24 hours and 3 restarts later, it seems to be fixed now. Whatever setting it was, I still don't know, resetting the BIOS to 'Optimized Defaults' and then resetting my boot order how I like it, seems to have fixed the issue.

No halted boot ups or boot errors since,... marking as solved.
Good job. It was more than likely one, or more, of your hard disk configuration settings.

Please forgive my ignorance. I too upgraded fromwin 7 to 10, and then did a clean install. Can never RESTART without freeze/disk errors etc. How do I reset the BIOS to optimise defaults - my F2 key in startup takes me to BIOS - then what do I do? Thanks.

What BIOS and motherboard have you got? The reset to default options are usually pretty visible.

It depends on what make/version of BIOS you have.

Look around, somewhere will be something similar to; save & exit, load optimized defaults, load fail sage defaults.

Choose optimized defaults, then choose save & exit. Type or click y for yes when prompted.

PC will reboot with optimized BIOS settings restored.

If your make/version of BIOS supports it, hitting F10 as previously mentioned may also work.

If you have the two column menu type BIOS, the option will be on the left hand side. If you have the full screen tabbed or mouse enabled BIOS it should be one the tabs close to or at the far left.

THANK you Corelogik and Nus for your gracious reply and HELP, inspite of the thread being closed - very decent of you. Yes I did find that my F9 key Restoes my DEFAULTS, which I pressed and then my F10 key to SAVE and EXIT. For the FIRST time my RESTART worked, without going into FREEZE/Loop etc. Hope it continues.

Once again, I am immensley grateful to you both and Letmein for your advice.

No problem at all. Glad someone else besides me could be helped by the same advice and solution.
