Apps look out of focus until I mouse over them

I've noticed this before, and it's been happening for a while now, but before it was just with a couple specific apps. Now it's affecting a lot more, like Chrome, Steam, and Discord. Fonts and pictures will look somewhat blurry and pixelated, until I hover the mouse over them, whereupon they "clear up" again. I've tried adjusting scaling settings and toggling the "fix scaling for apps" setting. No dice. What is doing this?

I've not seen the problem but since the mouse is involved I'd look into your Focus settings where usually a click on an image, icon or page brings it to the forefront.

I don't know what you mean. There's focus assist but I don't see anything to do with the mouse.

I'm not seeing anything other than the DPI settings. @Berton

      • select the Start button > Settings > System > Display > Advanced scaling settings (under Scale and layout).

    • In the Advanced scaling settings window, turn on the Let Windows try to fix apps so they’re not blurry option.

I already have tried that. It doesn't seem to effect this.

Been a month, and no new replies? This is still an issue and I haven't figured out how to fix it.

According to this thread on sevenforums, some people resolved their issue with the "mouseover" problem by turning off hardware acceleration on their gpu, and I wonder if you have some such setting which you could try.

    NVIDIA doesn't have that option.
