re: a problem making a bootable USB drive

1 I don't know if I should make a new thread or continue it on my old thread at I have 2 question's about win 10 home - Windows 10 Forums ?

I am trying to make a self booting USB drive of the prog "PCUlocker" on my Dell Inspiron15-3541 laptop OS Win 7 home 32bit. The purpose of this project is to put "PCUlocker" on a self booting USB drive so I can bypass the Win 10 local password (I forgot the Password) on an Asus X541NA laptop OS Win 10 Home 64bit The problem that I have is when I make the bootable USB drive with the prog "Power ISO" using the free version of "PCUlocker" the bootable USB drive works. But I can't unlock the Windows password with the free version of "PCUlocker". So on Jan-3rd when I got paid, I paid online for the paid version of the "PCUnlcker" and download it. And the paid version just don't work. I made the bootable USB drive with the paid version. And the paid version will not boot up in the Asus laptop. The boot order in the bios along with all the other setting in the bios are set right. I have no clue as to why the free version boots but the paid version won't boot.
By the way I have sent a few days ago an email to the "PCUlocker" tech support about this and there hasn't been any replys yet. Also I tried many different freeware USB ISO burners, all with the same results. Ether I got a bad download or there is a bug in the prog. Anyone have any ideas that I didn't think of?

    Hi reble

Haven't heard of that program before, another member may have a more direct answer.

In the Asus Bios please disable secure boot and fast boot. (Fast boot might be called something different)

Also please ensure your USB thumbdrive is FAT32 and the partition is marked active.

We have this tutorial to activate the builtin Admin and you can change your password. ( Option 5 )

You could have used this disk for free to remove the password. Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

fast boot and secure boot are disabled. The USB thumb drive is in FAT32. I don't know about the partition been marked active "Power ISO" does all of that automatically. Also I just got an email from "PCUlocker" tech support with a new download link for the paid version. I will let you know what happens.

PS: Caledon Ken were did you find that avar with "wild e coyote"?

Right now I can't get past the local password to make a Bootable Rescue Disk. Also the Asus laptop will not boot off the optical drive period. It only boots off a USB drive or the HDD.

If you hit ESC when first powered on does it not allow optical?

Since you can make bootable USB put the recovery disk on a USB. Although we need the process once up.

If you can boot windows media, first screen, shift + F10, command prompt and then follow that tutorial, option five.

You need a separate system to make disks.

Some one who has the ability to record that outside of Windows would be better.
NT password edit is on that disk and a few others last time I used it. I am sure if you look up the sites for the different indivudual tools you will find instructions for each tool.

I rarely have to use it nowadays. You can always use a Win 10 install disk to boot the system and use CMD line to enable the built in Administrator account to delete local passwords from other accounts.
