Is there any way to change the bios so it has the legacy/CSM mode installed? As it stands now this laptop is worthless to me.
Steve
So I downloaded the English manual from the link above. Once you get into BIOS setup, page 67 says to press F7 to get into advanced mode. On page 69 of the manual is this screenshot:
You need to enter the Secure Boot options and turn off secure booting. Then on page 68 there is this screenshot:
Once Secure Boo is turned off (disabled), the option to enable CSM should become active.
NavyLCDR I went through the procedures again. secure boot is off and fast boot is off and still no legacy/CSM mode to turn on.
In secure boot mode there is
platform mode setup : this line is grayed out
secure boot not active: This line is grayed out
secure boot control disabled
-----------------------------------------------------------------
in the boot sub menu
fast boot disabled
boot options priorities this line is grayed out
boot option 1 optical drive Still won't boot of the optical drive
boot option 2 HDD
boot option 3 USB bootable drive. This drive only shows when the laptop detects a
bootable drive. I can change the order of the boot
by putting the USB drive in the #1 slot. But it
doesn't change anything.
Under the Save and Exit tab in BIOS is the boot override menu at the bottom. You can't boot from USB flash drive from there?
I went to a local computer repair store and traded the Asus X541NA laptop for a Dell Inspiron 580 mini tower. This tower has 4gis of memory a 1 tb HDD and OS Win 10 Pro. It tries boot up but it can't get through the 1st Win 10 screem. I can get into the bios but that's it. If I let it boot 1st Win 10 icon pops up and the dots going around in a circles just bellow the icon. Next I get the following windows error message bellow.
VGA input active
Current settings: H=64KH V=60HZ
recommend settings: 1024 by 768 - 60HZ
then the screen changes to:
Input signal out of range
change settings to 1o 1024 X 764- 60hz
-----------------------------------------
After about 5 minutes the monitor goes to sleep until I wake it..
The tech that looked at this unit said that Win 10 pro was loaded up ready to go. I haven't seen any thing in the bios for UEFI
or Legacy/csm anywhere. The bios info is "A04 03/26/2010"
Your monitor does not support the Resolution.Input signal out of range
you can try and change the resolution, but I would try a larger more modern monitor that supports 1024X768 or larger.
Spunk the 2 monitors that I have are asking for the resolution to be changed to 1024 X 768. Also I can't get past that point to get into Windows to change the resolution. I can't even get far enough along in the Win boot to get into F8 safe mode
I did find something out to night though. My self booting prog's like password recovery are working on the Dell tower, my self booting prog's just wouldn't run on the Asus laptop period. If it boil's down to it I can now wipe the partition on the Dell tower and do a clean install of Win 10 and then start setting up the tower for the Radcon display. The only problem with this setup is. When I was using a laptop and I had 2 screens the laptops screen to watch wast's going on, on the big screem that the ppl watch to make adjustments. Question. there is 2 ports on the video card. There is a VGA port and a HDMI port as well. Can I use the HDMI port to plug into the HDMI port on my flat screen tv and use my tv for the front screen?
I finely got the Dell tower running on Win 10.
1st the video graphics card is a combo HDMI and DVI-I.
2 the resolution was set to 1920 X 1080. My 2 monitors can only do up to 1024 X 768. But the built in monitor in my flat screen tv can do 1920 X 1080 so I got the resolution down to 1024 X 768.
3 I don't know how in Win 10 to change the primary #1 monitor from HDMI to DVI-I. I had to pull the HDMI cable from the back of the cable tv/dvr box to get the video working on the Dell tower. I have a DVI-I to VGA adapter but if I pull the HDMI cable from the tower the monitor with the VGA cable goes dead. The graphics card is set for the HDMI port as the #1 primary monitor. I only have 1 HDMI cable. So how do I change the primary HDMI port so that the DVI-I is the primary port?
Also how do I turn on the Bluetooth connection in my Dell Inspiron 15-3541 laptop OS Win 7 Home 32bit?. Right now I only have 1 wireless keyboard/mouse to use been the 2 dell computers. I can use my bluetooth keyboard/mouse from my tablet on the Dell laptop if I can get the blue tooth turned on in the laptop.
My 2 monitors can only do up to 1024 X 768.By default HDMI takes over as default monitor when plugged in and DVI would be second. I don't think this can be changed, maybe you can by updating the driver and going into it's control panel and adjusting the monitor there.try a larger more modern monitor that supports larger resolution
This would be much easier with monitors that are newer then the ones you have.
