@Neekoid I've updated WinSetView to eliminate the code that was causing the error on your machine. Please download and test again. WinSetView web page.

@KeithM In the FolderTypes key, ColumnList value, there are some items that start with "2System". I can't figure out where those come into play. Any idea?

I never have. As you've probably noticed, a prefix of 0 (zero) indicates a default column, and 1 makes the column available in the abbreviated list of properteis offered when you right-click a column header. But the propereties prefixed with 2 don't seem to affect the number or order of properties offered once you select More... anc access the complete column list.

It might be related to a feature never implemented, one never implememted, or somehow related to the MS Office suite, as so many of the properties seem to be specific to office files.

But those are just guesses. I've never come across a definitive explanation.

Thanks Keith! Good to know I didn't miss anything obvious.

@KeithM I've been trying to figure out the folder type FileItemAPIs. I can't find any documentation on it and I can't see anything that it affects. Any ideas?

The 'Apply to folders' option works on a per-foldertype basis, meaning that when you have set it once for each of the various basic types: Generic, Documents, Pictures, Music, and Video. But there are many types not affected: Search Results, Libraries, etc. If you want to set a default view to cover these instances, I've written a PowerShell script that does so. Download the file linked to below. Open in Notepad or other text editor and edit the backup path and view mode as indicated in the file. Then copy & paste the whole thing into a PowerShell window, press Enter, when the prompt returns, close PowerShell and log off and back on.
