Active Explorer Box Border Not visible After 1809 Update

Prior to 1809 update, active window boxes have a visible border colors. When I updated to 1809, the border color disappear. This makes it very hard to see when the box is placed over another box with white background. Please see image for visual presentation.

I have tried changing the colors under settings -> personalization -> colors, with no changing affect. Anyone knows how to fix this?

Do you have this option checked?, is found in Settings-Personalization-Colors, at the bottom.

Thanks for the reply. The box isn't checked on mine and i do believe I have unchecked it because I didn't want any colors on the tab other than white. It looks like 1809 update did away with a thin color border for any active Windows box.

My next question. How can I enable a border color on active Windows box?

You have to check that option if you want that border in the active window.

PS: The color of the titlebars in active and inactive windows can be easily changed by modifying two entries in the registry.

    White titlebars:

I think there is a tutorial here in Ten Forums about that but unfortunately I couldn't find it because the search function doesn't work.

I don't have that setting checked yet my active window is correctly defined:

There is a shadow around each window that sets it off from other windows when they overlay. May be a setting for that/

That's how my 1809 looks too. The setting is in Advanced System properties, performance options.

I think OP refers to this border with the accent color that appeared in the April Update:
Active Explorer Box Border Not visible After 1809 Update-border-active-window-trim.png
In the April update, that border with the accent color appears even if you have disabled the option to show the accent color in the titlebars, in the October update this changed:
Active Explorer Box Border Not visible After 1809 Update-border-active-window-trim-17763.png
To enable it, you necessarily have to check that option:
Active Explorer Box Border Not visible After 1809 Update-border-active-window-17763-check-trim.png

But that also enables the accent color in the titlebars and OP wants to avoid that, unfortunately the solution that I proposed in my second answer doesn't work because, when that registry key is changed so that the titlebars are white, the border with the accent color in the active window disappears in the file explorer.

I remember when Windows 10 first came out (before some of the updates that "handicapped" Windows 10), you used to be able to set the width of these borders using 3rd party apps, which was awesome! But that is no longer the case. The 3rd party apps no longer work.

(I found this picture online; the picture is of a previous version of Windows (I think Windows 8.1), but still, you were able to adjust the border thickness for Windows 10.)
