Can u watch Blu-ray on laptop on ur TV? I have laptop & TV+PowerDVD17

I have a laptop with an external pioneer USB Blu-ray drive and PowerDVD17. I have had the hardware for a while, but had not had a movie to try it out with. I got Logan's Run for Christmas, the Sci-Fi movie. I had my TV connected to the HDMI output of my laptop and could not get the video to transfer to the TV. I'm disappointed. Because we don't have a Blu-ray player and the whole family was looking forward to having a Blu-ray player finally.

You could try Cyberlink tech support at https://www.cyberlink.com/support/ge...aq-list.do#c14 or their user forums at https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/forums/list/ENU.page

I assume that you set your computer to use an external monitor [Settings, System, Display] & that you have tried using Duplicate, Extend and Second screen only. Some display drivers cannot use Extend successfully.

I cannot help any further but I do suggest adding [both to your post here and to any messages & posts at Cyberlink]
    - Does the movie play on the computer itself?
    - I also suggest confirming that the disk itself is a BluRay disk rather than a DVD that you are playing through the BluRay drive.
    - Is the Region correct [see http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...es-region-free]?
    - Do other BluRay / DVD movies play through your BluRay player to the TV?
    - Do normal external display settings work [duplicate display, extend desktop, second screen only]?
    - Is your Cyberlink PowerDVD up-to-date?
    - Are your hardware drivers & BIOS the latest ones for your computer & for the BluRay drive?

    Best of luck,
    Denis

I feel plugging a USB Blu-Ray Player into a Laptop may not pass through the HDMI output to HDMI input on a TV.
But usually works when i plug a USB hard drive into my Blu-Ray player hooked through HDMI on my TV.
Why don't you just plug the USB Blu-Ray into the TV's USB port if it has one. Check website and manual for Blu-Ray Player you have.
