Strange floating panel with symbols & numbers randomly appears

For several months, with no apparent reason or trigger, this strange floating window has appeared - its almost always in the way and sometimes is hard to get rid of. There is no way to close it, its not clickable - I seem to be only able to get it to go away by tabbing between programs. I have tried searching round to see if anyone else has this but have not found any reference to it. Hoping someone else may know what this is!

Hi Bro67, It is a randomly appearing artifact and I have been unable to predict when it will appear, or work out how to repeat it. It only appears infrequently (eg once a week) so it will be difficult to tell if its really gone, unless I hang about in safe mode for a week or two. I was hoping someone would recognise what it was which might help me to narrow down the cause.

Yes, it does always appear in the same spot; I am unable to interact with it (can't click the elements, or drag it away). The only work around is tabbing between apps. I'm suspecting the common link to the occurrences is Adobe, so might post this over on an Adobe forum to see if anyone recognises it.
