Why my monitor goes OFF after some standby time ??

When did this problems start?

Can you recall any changes made just before?

Have you reviewed your Windows Update history, particularly the driver section. Was anything installed on your behalf just before problem started?

What type of monitor (Make Model) is this?

If you switch the cables, at the monitor end, between devices does problem move to other screen?

What card are you using (make / model) ?

Have you tried uninstalling graphic driver and software with a tool like DDU and then re-installing?

Since I first turned on my new PC with the pre-installed Windows 10 Pro. Before that, the same monitor went into standby mode smoothly and remained there as long as I wanted (LED blinking) in Windows 7 and Windows XP at older PCs.

No changes were made before discovering this problem as it's a fresh new PC with pre-installed Windows 10 Pro.

"Was anything installed on your behalf just before problem started?"
No. The problem began from the first operation of the new PC. Later the system updated my Network adapter.

"What type of monitor (Make Model) is this?"
BenQ, purchased 8 years ago, with LED technology (not Plasma, etc) which was new for monitors that time. In the device manager now it's specified as Generic PnP Monitor.

I don't have other screen.

"What card are you using (make / model) ?"
My Display adapter: Intel HD Graphics 630. The system says no updates are required for it. Perhaps one possible answer to my problem might be that my monitor is connected to the PC with simple VGA cable while the PC has also a HD socket. But the monitor hasn't got any HD connection. It has one another plug with pins which is twice bigger than the simple VGA. But my new PC hasn't any outlet for such type of connection but my previous PC had and I used to connect the monitor to that bigger (not VGA) outlet in my previous PC.

No, I haven't. But why to use such a tool when the Device Manager alone can uninstall the driver ??

Another guess is that this may require registry tweaking. At some other forum I saw someone having a little different problem with monitor. So he was advised to make some registry tweaking. I went to that advised place in registry and saw there a lot of options (entries) to tweak the different kinds of parameters of a monitor, related to Energy savings, etc. So I might need someone who knows perfectly this side of registry for energy savings at monitors. My guess is that there is a specific registry tweaking related directly to this specific problem with my monitor.

Please take a picture of the other port on your Monitor, it is Benq but you didn't list model number.

Your PC has HDMI and your monitor likely DVI.

You can get and HDMI to DVI cable and your resolution will improve a great deal.

List HDMI

I can't be certain that it will fix it but a $30 cable with better resolution I would experiment.

This would be the DVI end.



Also please ensure in your monitor menu you have Auto Power set to OFF

Excellent.

You may have been handling the monitor and engaged the menu. I've done that before cleaning my desk. Now I always shut them off. Thought I had damaged cable.

Anyway it is fixed. Glad the forum could help.
