    Error 7043 at boot

Z390-A ASUS system. At every boot error 7043 is generated in the Event Viewer System log...

"The AsusUpdateCheck service did not shut down properly after receiving a preshutdown control."

There is no way to disable this service; it will restart at next boot.

Any thoughts on how to overcome or block the message?

It seems the typical bloat installed by OEM/Manufacturers. If you don't need it, uninstall it.

Ya you certainly don`t need that service running every time you start up your PC, if you want updates, you check for yourself at Asus.

Are you saying you can`t shut it down using Task Manager>Services ??

Is it listed in Services ?

Disable Armoury Crate in the bios under tools. Then disable AsusUpdateCheck in Windows services. That will stop error 7043.

Armoury Crate isn't shown in the BIOS. And if this were disabled it would seem that auto-update, which might be a good thing, would be as well.

Yes to both questions. See ASUS Z390 Motherboards Automatically Push Software into Your Windows Installation | TechPowerUp

Well it is on my Hero XI, I assumed that your board had this as well. You can still disable it in services.
You don't need auto update, just more crap, download for Asus web site.

Nope, can't be disabled; it returns at boot. Can't even be stopped. A search of the BIOS for the terms "update, Armoury, Crate and auto" reveals no results.

Find the executable and block it in Windows Firewall. That should do it.

Good thought on the firewall, but nothing remotely naming "ASUS" is listed there.

If the executable that's in System 32 is renamed, the PC restores the file at boot.

You need to find the executable for the ASUS Update check then add an outbound rule blocking that exe to the firewall.
