Run shortcut as a scheduled task.
Run shortcut as a scheduled task sounds simple but for the life of me I just can't get this one shortcut to work in the scheduler.
This shortcut is for the PrivateInternetAccess VPN app (V0.82) to run from a fixed location.
I have a shortcut with these details...
Target: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin\rubyw.exe" ..\src\build\windows\pia_manager\bin\run.rb --run
Start In: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin"
Now if I run this shortcut I get the UAC prompt and then the app runs and the VPN is setup and connects.
So to avoid the UAC prompt, I am wanting to set this shortcut up as a shedulaed task so it can run on startup/login etc.
So, I create the task in the scheduler but no matter what I try it just does not run.
I have tried..
Program/script: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin\rubyw.exe"
Add Arguments: ..\src\build\windows\pia_manager\bin\run.rb --run
Start In: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin"
also
Program/script: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin\rubyw.exe"
Add Arguments: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\src\build\windows\pia_manager\bin\run.rb" --run
Start In: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin"
also
Program/script: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\bin\rubyw.exe"
Add Arguments: "run.rb" --run
Start In: "C:\Program Files\pia_manager\src\build\windows\pia_manager\bin"
plus other varations. Now I know you can not really trym this out yourself unless you PIA VPN installed but is there anything wrong with how the task is setup in the schedular or any reason you can see why it might not work through a shedulaed task.#
Thanks
