C Drive full after failed system restore froze

Hi guys, need your advise. I initially restored my laptop thru system restore point that was made when my windows updated automatically. However, it froze and I halted the process thru hard reset. I read that I should continue the restore point thru safe mode. I continued the process thru safe mode however the option is "undo" restore point. Now when I finished undo-ing the process. I noticed that my Drive C was already full. I asked the tech support from DELL and they advised me to resinstall the OS since the C: has already been corrupted.

If you don't have a system image backup, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Yeah, unfortunately, I don't have an image backup. So is that the final resort for me to wipe it clean, reinstall?

An option if Factory Restore doesn't work: If you have another computer you could use the MCT/Media Creation Tool to get the Bootable USB Thumb drive created or if you have an ODD/Optical Disc Drive you could get the .iso to use for burning a DVD. Use either one to reinstall or clean install Windows.

If there are needed documents I like to boot to a Linux LiveDVD to access the hard drive to recover them to a USB drive. It usually has the GPARTED program useful for deleting or creating partitions. DistroWatch.com: Put the fun back into computing. Use Linux, BSD. GPARTED is also available as a LiveCD .iso.
