    Probem with Windows Lumia Phone

My almost problem free Lumia 435 Phone has a problem now when making a phone call. The moment I try to connect, the screen goes blank (black) and remains blank --- this makes it difficult to tell if a connection has been established. Not having had problems with the phone in the past I have no idea how to deal with this issue.

    Can anyone help?

Take out the battery for a while to force a hard reset and reboot.

I've retired my Lumia phone and taken the Android phone since Windows phones are no longer supported.

    Lumia phone problem

My apologies for taking so long to reply. I removed and replaced the battery but it did not solve the problem,

Regarding the ending of support by Microsoft, I have been a bit confused from reading different reports. For example, one stating it is only Windows 8 / 8.1 it applies to, not W 10. Also it has not happened yet, but is due later in 2019. As this post is almost the first time I have asked for help, the phone having been the most reliable device I have had, will it really matter? Or is it like the situation with my XP which I no longer connect to the internet for security reasons?

I will miss not having a Windows phone, which I use as if it were an extension of my PC. Although there is some integration between Windows and Android going on I presume I will still lose out with a lot of my Windows mobile apps becoming redundant. Fortunately I use an Android tablet too, so will not be completely unfamiliar with it,

Windows Mobile 8.x OS EOL was July 11, 2017. EOL for Mobile 10 is December 11, 2019. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...of-support-faq https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/search?sort=PN Even Gates saw the writing on the wall and moved to Android OS a long time before Windows Mobile 8 started to see the end of life.

    Lumia phone problem

Thanks, that is informative ----- although it is mainly about W8/8.1 and not entirely clear (to me) exactly when my W10 should no longer be used. But it seems I will have at least nearly another year of use, so buying a replacement soon seems rather premature and unnecessary. I am also wondering if some third party security apps might be sufficient protection, or not? Suppose probably not.

By the way, how do I edit my Profile? The Customise feature does not seem to do it.

It was because Microsoft was losing base to Android and iOS user base. Why market and sell a loser that the likes of AT&T, could not even give out for free, when they made more off of the other two. Majority of people upgrade about every 24 months. I just upgraded from a 6s+ to a XR iPhone and have been public beta testing iOS 12.x.x with no issues.

Microsoft has started to move towards Open Source projects, including making huge changes to Windows 10 to include more Open Source. Microsoft has known where the money is for a very long time, they just chose to ignore the moves during the Balmer years.
