Thanks for the link Bree I will do the reverting if the 09 does not workout but it just seems to me that doing it does take a lot of disk space and in any case one should not have to muck around like this it makes a nonsense out of 10.
Sort of makes one wonder who they have working all this stuff out if they are human of course .
Bear in mind upgrades have been known to go wrong, and if you end up with an unbootable PC, you could be struggling for days even.
Reverting to previous build is only possible if your PC boots normally.
So a disk image (best saved on e.g. a USB disk drive - rather than a DVD or most probably multiple DVDs (or possibly over a network) ) is a very wise precaution. (Disk images will be >> 1 DVD).
This really needs to be created before the download starts.
I've said before that instead of just downloading and installing upgrades:
- W10 should display a warning message stating this will happen after you click "OK"
- The message should also remind users to create a backup
- The upgrade operation (download & install) should only start after the user clicks "OK"

I'll just speak from my own experience...
A few days ago 1809 was finally pushed via WU and 3 upgrades went very smoothly.
The bonus was a long-awaited fix for Drive Mapping errors.
Since it is a moderate feature update, plus fixes, I would go with it when pushed by WU.
However, imaging your entire system first under 1803 is a safe bet.

Yes well at the moment everything looks to be working as before except spellcheck in this reply post and the fact that my desktop instead of having the snipped pics showing has thumbnails which I cannot seem to get rid of.
Personally I feel that the powers that be at Microsoft really should make sure these updates to a system (that was working perfectly before) are not going to cause nay grief. Not to mention that we are paying for the privilege of using the software they put out and I am guessing if one bought a new car and a replacement gearbox was required and retro fitted for some reason one would expect at least the ""updated" gearbox would change gears as needed.
But it seems like we have no comeback for poor product features which are not working a one would expect them to do.
It is like the article I read yesterday that Edge is going to be overtaken or rather sucked into the Google system by having it having to work in Chromium I hope I have got that right and I wonder how long it is going to be before Google takes Windows and turns it into a corporate conglomerate.

I've run version 1809 on three computers (1 laptop, 2 desktops), since the first day it came out, before MS pulled it and re-released it. I haven't had a problem one with it. Version 1809 is no different than any of the previous versions, some people like me won't have any issues at all with it, and it just won't run for other people.
The laptop is Intel I7 based and the 2 desktops are AMD based.
Likewise I've had 1809 on two AMD and one Intel PC since the original release in October and not had a single issue with it, maybe I'm lucky but not had any problems that affect me with Win10 updates.

I did have a minor issue though on a fourth machine, an i7 laptop I use for Hyper-V VMs. While the host machine worked perfectly on the Internet and with two-way communication with the VMs, the host machine couldn't write to shares on other physical machines on the network (but it could read from them perfectly). With Hyper-V removed it had no problems though. I rolled it back to 1803 until there was a fix.
That problem was resolved with the December CU, build 17763.194. So that make four machines with no problems now.
