Auto file compression setting on Windows 10 1803?
I was running my main drive down to around the 1.5GB mark and have been meaning to free up some space. To my surprise, I noticed it gained just under 1gb in space but I've disabled storage sense so thought it might have something to do with the pagefile or something.
Yesterday, later in the day, I noticed there were quite a number of files which shows those two little blue arrows on the top right of files pointing towards each other. I haven't noticed it previously, so has a recent update introduced this in that if a drive has certain free space available, it will compress files without being prompted?
I have boticed it happen on my desktop folder, a random folder on the root of my C drive and Documents. I've manually unchecked compress files for these folders, but it does leave desktop.ini's compressed, with me having to uncompress these separately.
I main concern is can I disable it completely, as I note new files added into my Downloads folder gets compressed (the checkbox is unchecked if anyone's wondering)?
I have tried the fsutil disablecompression 1 and a restart but no effect.
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this.
Thanks
