Keyboard language setting changes on its own

I live in the UK, my language/region option is set correctly and I have a UK-format keyboard. US English keyboard format is not even an option set in the region and language settings. Why does Windows 10 keep adding the US English keyboard option and switching me to it? I want it to be set to UK forever and to get the language bar off my taskbar forever.

    Remove all foreign language-keyboard references

A In Settings, Time & language, Region & language.
A1 Make sure only UK & English [UK] are the only ones referred to.
A1.1 Select then Remove any other language.
A1.2 Select the English [UK] {Windows display language} entry, Options, Keyboards and delete anything other than UK [Qwerty] if that is the region for which the keyboard was designed.
A2 In Advanced keyboard settings clear both checkboxes and make sure the top item [Override ...] either says English or Language list.
A3 In Advanced keyboard settings, Language bar options,
A3.1 Language bar tab - Hidden & clear all checkboxes, and
A3.2 Advanced key settings tab, Change key sequence - set both to Unassigned.

    B In Control panel, Language
[You can get to Control panel through Start button, Windows system and you might need to set Control panel's View by dropdown to Small icons, so you can see the Language entry]
B1 Select and Remove anything other than English [UK]
B2 Select English [UK] and click on Options then check that nothing else is listed under Input method
B3 Back in Control panel, Language select Advanced settings
B3.1 Check that the dropdowns are set to English [UK] or the language list.
    B3.2 Clear both checkboxes
B3.3 Change language bar hot keys, Change key sequence, set both to Not assigned.
B3.4 At the bottom of Control panel, Language click on Save.

C Never accidentally hit the WinKey+Spacebar key combination because that might complicate things [it triggers the switch keyboard language & keyboard layout function]

The US English option was in the language bar even though it was not present in Region & language. In order to get rid of it I had to first add it and then remove it again. It will be back though. It always comes back. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day.

    Hi there
You need to check the keyboard behviour -- there's some standard setting that resets it for each application -- can't remember.

I think you need also to remove US English from your windows installed languages -- you can't do that though if your original Windows installation was a US version and not the GB one.

    Cheers

I have double-checked my first post and provided both Settings & Control panel -based approaches. If you follow either method you should never see a Language bar.

At which stage does your experience differ from what I have written [I have now labelled each step for ease of reference]?
