    Open single audio files and still use Foobar for albums

    Hopefully this will make sense once I try to explain it.

    I have a folder of about 3000 mp3s that I have collected over the years.

    I have Foobar2000 installed and am using that as my main music player and it's working really great and I'm happy with it. However, can I install an audio player to just open these single mp3 files without messing up what Foobar2000 is doing?

    For example, I would like to double click on an mp3 and have it open up as a single instance in an audio player rather than having to dig through this folder in Foobar2000.

    I'm not keen on using Windows Media Player for privacy reasons. I'm sure there's something lightweight out there that I can use, right?

    Hopefully this all makes sense.

    Yes, you can. Most of us like VLC player for Video and Audio. Browse to the Folder that the MP3's are stored in, (ie) C:\Users\[UserName]\Music and right clicking Each MP3 individually and choose to Open With ...VLC. That should not affect your playlist with Foobar.

    For mp3 I just use Windows Media Player.

    Thanks, I see VLC does video too so I will download it for a video player .

    How do you find it? I don't want it to mess with file associations, especially pictures as I have Honeyview set up for all my picture viewing.

    Hi folks

    @g41851

    VLC - browse to file and just open it.

    Screenshot from a Linux desktop -- same method as windows --- with windows browse to file with file explorer -- right mouse click on file and open with / play with and select VLC

    VLC will play loads of codecs and also video as well.

    Open single audio files and still use Foobar for albums-snapshot12.png

    Simple, easy and doesn't alter any settings on your other programs.

    Cheers

    To use Windows Media Player, right click on the mp3, click on Open with and select Windows Media Player.
