Windows 10 freezing randomly after recent updates

I am getting all sorts of freezes requiring restore of system to previous versions but, after some time, the system starts freezing again.
I have tried all the "tips" which do not work - increasing page file, sfc/scannow, etc. to no avail.
today morning I got following errors when it hung (computer name and username anonymized)
What (besides the latest Microsoft patches) could be the cause?

how can I stop Windows 10 freezing after latest updates

I keep getting freezing of this desktop PC, especially following October updates, requiring several restores
it seems that Explorer (Windows itself) is the culprit, but I was looking at eventvwr and have seen errors as per attachment.

I have tried to no avail all the usual tips: increasing pagefile, sfc/scannow, physical memory check, disk error check, etc. (e.g. troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-windows-10-freezes-randomly/)

    The system:-
    Windows 10 home 64 bit version 1803, build 17134.407
    ASROCK H110M-DVS R2.0 Motherboard
    intel core I5 6400 CPU
    8.00GB Single-Channel @ 1066MHz RAM,
2047MB (INNO 3D) NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 (NVIDIA) Graphics
    ACER KA220HQ monitor [email protected]
1863GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 SCSI Disk Device (HDD SATA) 41 °C (Pagefile)
232GB Hitachi HDT725025VLA380 SCSI Disk Device (HDD SATA) 43 °C
223GB KINGSTON SCSI Disk Device (SATA-2 (SSD)) 36 °C (Pagefile)
    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSD1 SCSI CD-rom Device
Realtek high definition audio (settings attached)

    removable devices

    Always attached
HP M/N:M-UAE96 optical mouse (HID - compliant) USB-2 attached
Logitech internet 350 keyboard (HID compliant) USB-2 attached
HP Deskjet F4500 series using Microsoft driver F4500 series class driver (which worked before the latest updates) USB-2 attached as the HP driver showed garbage as here:-
Logitech HD Webcam C270 USB-2 attached

    not always attached:
PLUSTEK Opticfilm8200i slide scanner USB-2 attached
Seagate and Maxtor removable hard drives (USB3-attached)
