Always "show more details" in explorer when > 15 files selected?

When you select files in windows explorer, there is a pane on the right hand side that will show details about the selected files. If you select more than 15 files, the details section automatically disappears and is replaced with a "show more details" link that must be clicked to restore the details section.

Is it possible to make it such that the details section is always shown, regardless of the number of files selected? The fact that the pane disappears exactly at 16 files leads me to believe it's specified in a registry setting somewhere.

Hi, the link 'Show more details' does nothing except disappear when I click it... it oddly restores nothing, so I'm not sure what you're seeing..
must be clicked to restore the details section.
Seems a quirk present for a long time- example Win 7 - but note the ref. to the status bar and 'Classic Shell' (free) - now Open Shell - which many here use which overcomes the issue of showing the total size:
Total size of multiple selected files in the details pane ... - Microsoft Community

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61507-details-pane-turn-off.html

The details pane only shows the size of 15 selected items by default and viewing the total size of more than 15 selected items requires clicking on the Show more details link each time the selection changes.
This text does not seem present in the equivalent Win 10 tutorial, curiously.

I happen to have Open Shell installed, and my status bar shows the total size of selected items > 15, FWIW:
Always "show more details" in explorer when > 15 files selected?-1.jpg

    - clicking the Show more details link does nothing...except it disappears (!)

    Here's what I see (15 files selected):

Always "show more details" in explorer when > 15 files selected?-15_files_selected.jpg

    16 files selected:

Always "show more details" in explorer when > 15 files selected?-16_files_selected.jpg

Maybe mine is behaving differently because I customized the folder for "Music" in the properties?

Based on your link, it seems this is a known issue with no fix other than to install Open Shell.

Yours look the same, basically- the icon in the Details pane is different 'cos we have selected different file types.
In yours I can't see the status bar at the bottom tho' to see what info is shown.

Whether clicking 'Show More Details' actually shows anything extra in the details pane appears to depend on what file types are selected.

In any case, if you can see something there with 16+ selected, it's pretty useless and meaningless as far as I can see.

It actually does say "X items selected Y MB" in the lower left corner of the status bar:

I didn't even notice that before. I guess that gives me the information I want, but it would still be nice if the details pane worked correctly.
