Is there a way, or program I can install, that will close everything on the screen with just one click of a keyboard key?
That's just one click, not using two keys with each other. Many years ago, I had a program that I installed and it closed everything open by one press of the X key. That may have been with Windows XP. I do not have the program and searching the Internet is not giving me the answer.
In the interest of data safety Windows does tend to protect us from our own foibles. If there are unsaved documents in use there will always require at least one extra click to either save or lose that data, usually even in a power off choice. The one sure way to close all without a click is holding down the On|Off switch on the computer case for 6 to 10 seconds, a sure way to pretty much guarantee file/drive corruption.
I had a couple of scantily clad (a bit of an overstatement.lol) windows open, along with an 'educational' video playing in full screen when a pair of eyes approached me, whom I did not want to see what was on the screen. Say no more..nod..nod..wink..wink...
Yep, understand about the two key presses but that is not what I am after. There was a program many years ago the mapped the 'X' key to close all. It may have been that it closed everything to the Taskbar, I can't remember as it is so long ago.
Enable this, and slide the mouse cursor all the way down to bottom right corner. Hides all open windows (browsers, too) and displays only what's on the desktop, like shortcuts and such. Click on that slim little vertical bar at the bottom right of the taskbar, and it stays hidden, till you click again.
Ok.....if you just tap the Windows Key (one with the Windows Logo on it), it will instantly switch to the Start Menu. Desktop and all open windows are not visible. Hows that? It's ONE key. Not "X", but ONE key.
Peek is good but can get in the way if not paying attention to where the mouse pointer is. Another good choice is Windows key + L to lock the screen, if password has been assigned to log in it will be necessary to unlock the screen [can protect against snoopers].
I enabled 'Peek' but when I then slide my mouse cursor to the bottom right corner, nothing happens. Am I missing something?
