Do you have On resume, display logon screen unchecked in your screen saver settings?
You might also check to see if your computer may be going to sleep during the screen saver and requiring sign-in on wakeup.

No and No.. I do not have "On resume, display logon screen" and I did not have either the monitors or the computer itself going to sleep either on battery or plugged in.
I did experiment with the put the monitor to sleep after 1 hour and what I got instead, my GT80 SLI Titan stopped waking them up completely - the 2 external monitors, not the primary laptop screen. I turned off the sleep function completely, or the power options where the monitors are turned off.
I even rebooted several times, the external monitors got turned off permanently.. even though using the 'detect ' feature, it showed the correct number of monitors but they were turned off. I turned off the power off feature and all is fine and back to normal but the different timeouts for screen saver and screen lock still do not work.

Hmm, let's see if not using screen saver and using turn off display instead may help with the set lock screen time.
I did experiment yesterday with the cutting off power to the monitors.. and that worked. However I left the other 2 variables set, namely the screen saver at 10 minutes and for the sake of the test, I set the Registry value at 3600.
The power saving feature worked.. initially. However, when I booted the computer today, the two external monitors were not powering on at all. Just the laptop monitor. The computer detected them, said you have 3 screens, laptop screen + 2 external monitors.
I think I've read on the MSI forum that this model has issues with waking up from sleep. Now I don't know if this means the PC component or the monitor component. I think I validated this, even though I never set the PC piece of it to go to sleep, just the monitors. Upon a fresh boot, the monitors are turned off when the monitor sleep setting is set to 1 hour.
I had to turn off the power saving feature completely, reboot and they monitors came back. I did not experiment with the screen lock today but it appears to follow the same pattern as yesterday. When the screen saver kicks in, so does the screen lock.
Check to see if you have Fast Startup turned off. If turned on, it can sometimes cause issues on startup and wakeup.

From I recall I did have the fast startup turned on but will double check.
However,my impression was it was a BIOS setting. I don't recall what it was set to on the operating system level.
Oh right. You are right. I misread it. I will check it tonight and post the results.
do you think it could be the reason why the Registry setting of 3600 does not take precedence over the screen saver value of say 600?
I do not see the "Turn on or off fast startup in Windows 10" option. I navigated precisely where the link said. To under 'Change settings that are currently available".
I think this FAQ above is for an outdated version of 10.
A search reveals nothing either.
In any case, this doesn't seem to have much to do with the screensaver/screenlock.
