    Windows 10 installation deleted everything on my USB drive


    I have directed the installation of windows 10 to my USB after which everything I previously had on it got deleted, does anyone no what's the cause of the problem and maybe how to solve it

    If you've chosen to overwrite what was on your USB, it would appear you're the cause...?

    When you ran the Media Creation Tool, you didn't read and heed the warning:

    Windows 10 installation deleted everything on my USB drive-capture.jpg

    It did exactly what the warning stated.

    Yes, sadly you seems to have done a big mistake, you should immediately stop using the drive and maybe you'll be able to recover something ...

    If you attempted to install something to a USB drive/stick, of course it will delete anything on that storage device.

    Looks like someone should've taken their USB stick out of the slot when it was installing or reinstalling the system.

    In order to make it bootable, it has to be formatted, all programs for making bootable USB do that.
