Fixed it!

Turns out the bloatware was indeed at fault. Should anybody else come along and find this, here's what I did:

1. Open the Services desktop app.
2. Open properties for TDM Service.
3. Set startup type to disabled.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 for Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
5. Reboot.
I too had the locked up file explore problem. Icons would not display, the options under view were all grey and could not be selected, and when I clicked on This PC I got Working on it and it would not finish loading. I did what you suggested, note I did not have Intel Rapid Storage Technology, but I did have TDM Service.

It worked like a charm! Thanks for posting! Problem solved!
