I see that the BSOD section is only for Blue Screen, but what about Black Screen which I now get every time after about an hour after Booting. What makes it more problematic is that the PC crashes and cannot be re-started until after an hour plus of none use, despite frequently pressing the power button.

Does the Windows OS boot at all or is it always black screen?
No, it does not respond at all when power is pressed. There is no sign of life, not even the light which is normally on when AC is connected, and flashes when charging. The first thing I see after an hour or more of dormancy is this power light which tells me that this time boot up will start.
Can you boot Windows into Safe Mode?
First and foremost when you get the black screen, try pressing this key combination: WinKey+CTRL+SHIFT+B. It resets your graphics driver and may be enough to put your PC back in action. Can't hurt to try. I'd be looking long and hard at your graphics circuitry and drivers as the most likely culprits.

Thank you all, there is a lot of help in your responses which I will work on. As far as the Display driver is concerned I make regular use of IOB Driver Booster, which is not now reporting an out of date driver --- but I will check it again.
I have been able to (re) Boot into Safe Mode, as long as the PC is working OK at the time. I have a small utility which helps with this.
Over heating may be a possibility. Like most (all?) 2-in-1 tablet PCs mine device does not have a cooling fan

If there is no sign of life, (ie) no lights on, then there is an issue with the Power on your tablet. Make sure power adapter is plugged in and it has charged for an hour or more. I had a similar problem with my Toshiba laptop; no AC light, even though plugged in and would not turn on at all. Completely dead. I was informed by somebody at Geek Squad that it was probably the motherboard. Not wanting to go through a repair process, I purchased the new HP laptop. I kept my Toshiba just in case I wanted to remove the HDD. Before I went ahead with that. I used the HP for a while (maybe a month), then thought I'd try my dead Toshiba again. As soon as I plugged it in, the AC light lit up. I pressed the power button and everything worked normally. That was several months ago and she's still working very well. Somehow, the machine "fixed itself".
I learned later that there is a button, accessible through the bottom case using a paper clip, that resets the battery somehow. That may have fixed the problem (who knew?). Perhaps your device has a similar setup. At any rate, yours might miraculously revive as mine did.
