is our voice really *unique??

Recently there are a lot of emails from my bank suggesting me to click to
upgrade my phone banking security by providing them my voice, then
the next time my voice can be used to access my phone banking service
more quickly. The emails are really from my bank.

I'd like to know if our voice is really unique and can act as fingerprint?
Can't two people in the world have the same voice? What is the parameter
of our voice that makes us unique? Frequency ? Or is it only an "improved" security to avoid fraud only, instead of bullet proof

These voice fingerprints are used by HMRC (taxman) in the UK so I assume it has been approved by GCHQ for security. Personally, I avoid voice fingerprints.

I Loathe all these voice things -- there's enough ambient noise around anyway without adding to it -- and in any case sophisticated recording devices soon scotch the idea of security anyway,

I had to laugh recently when I was at Kings Cross railway station in London waiting for a train to York (great city to visit BTW) and this big bozo in a business suit was yelling into his phone in a voice that would have impressed an Army drill sergeant "My security code is XXXXXX, Bank account number is XXXXX and other stuff totally oblivious that he was in a highly public place. !!!!!

BTW also in York station -- Great Real Ale bar -- nice while waiting for return train to London. !!!!

I wonder if he had any money left in his account by the end of the day -- I could have spent a fortune on Amazon with the data I could have picked up !!!
