Folder Authorization Issue C Drive

Hi all. I own a new laptop with a 256g SSD. 4 days ago I merged the 2 partitions with AOMEI software bc I did not like how it came (C drive was 90GB and D drive was 142 GB)

Now I only have one drive of (222GB)

Whenever I try so install or modify (e.g. delete) a folder on the Programs or Programs X86 folders It does not let me do it. I can still download programs without big problems, to an extent.

To solve this problem do I need to format the pc? Do u think it will be a big issue in the long term if I do not format it right now? e.g. I installed Photoshop successfully today, but I could not choose the directory path for Programs C bc it could not let me install it there. I still installed it tho somehow.

I changed C drive ownership but the problem persists. I tried to change authorizations for folders but I still have this issue at times.

ps: most of the times it says I need "Administrators permission" in order to modify or delete folders and subfolders.

Any solutions? Can I leave my pc like that atm and install again the OS in the future?

Welcome to the forum. If it asks for amin permissions its just the uac kicking in and normally you click ok and it goes ahead. Yiu say you changed permissions on c what did you do as it can brick the pc and is a security risk

It does not let me go on I suppose but I cannot explain how I can still somehow install programs.
I changed the C drive permission making myself (my user) the owner. Here it is what appears if I go to owner advanced options, it says the owner is : (MyName (LAPTOP-HOAEBALC\Myname)).

Are these options fine? What do u mean by security risks?

As the txt isnt english I cant understand it. By default a lot of folders are owned by system these are vital folders and its done so no malware can effect system files if you now own then any malware can now access everything.

What is the uac set to?

Okay I understand. Should I try setting the options as they were, comparing options of another pc, to avoid security issues?

Where do I see whom the Uac is set to?

Who should own the C drive? Or should I leave everything like tnat

I think that I will wait to see if other problems arise and do not complicate things moreover. If issues come I will reinstall.
Ps: can I install another OS instead of Windows 10 (I would contact an expert ofc)? Like Win 8?

What do u think it is best doing?

That depends on how old is the computer, may not have drivers and be compatible with older windows. W10 and to some extent W8 doesn't normally let users do much to system folders manually, you would need to "Take ownership" of them to do anything Windows normally doesn't allow. Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 10 | Tutorials but must be careful when you do.

it is brand new.
I will stick to Win 10 then. Hope I do not have to reinstall now.
I will be careful if I will end formatting it and never touch ownerships again lol

what are the hopes of not having issues in the near future now that the C drive owner is my user and not the default one? So I can be prepared lol
