    Windows 10 | Default Fonts | Can't Restore


    Hello,
    I installed some old software on my Windows 10 device and it changed the font to some old XP font. Here is a screenshot: 2018-11-17_0929
    Unfortunately I didn't have system recovery enabled and have no restore point to revert back to. I have tried the following:
    1. Restore fonts using "restore default font settings" but button is disabled.
    2. Download Windows 10 font library and install the full hive.
    3. Create new font registry on desktop and reset to Segoe UI.
    4. I have tried to rebuild the font cache.
    5. I have run SFC command to search for corrupt files. supposedly it found something and fixed it, but nothing changed.
    6. I have tried deleting the font key in the registry and then copy/pasting the new Windows 10 font hive in C: Windows/fonts

    I have exhausted reading forums on the internet and have run out of options. Please help if possible.

    Hello Jacoman, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    If you like, you could see if using Option 2 in the tutorial below may restore your default system font.

    If not, your screenshot does look like you may need to turn on ClearType and go through the wizard to fine tune the text.
