My PC HP Envy W10 home, just shut down on me.
I can't remember the exact wording but it was followed the message 'Operating System not found'.
I rebooted and it's started fine.
Is this the first signs a future problem?
In my previous broken Windows 7 computer, I once booted into the desktop and the system was installing a driver for the HDD the OS was on.
In my experience, you can never know what Windows will dish out on you in the next boot.
Check:
operating system
drive file system
component store
hardware
Perform the following steps:
1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
2) sfc /scannow
3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
4) chkdsk /scan
5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
6) Download and install HP Diagnostics Windows (see right upper area of this link):

7) On the left pane click system tests > system extensive tests
8) Click component tests > Run Storage and other tests as needed
9) Report the tests performed and the results into the thread or post an image of the log file

The three checks: operating system, drive file system, component store all passed
For unexpected problems please make a backup image.
Save the backup image to another drive or to the cloud.

Hi, I've revised this thread as I had the same problem again, I've followed the instructions above from zbook and this is the result

This process will take some time.Beginning verification phase of system scan.Verification 100% complete.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located atwindir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offlinerepairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

If the CBS log file refers to a number of hash mismatch items on PowerShell components for Defender, the fix is pretty easy.
1. run DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
2. re-run sfc /scannow
If that is indeed your problem, that will do the trick (I know from recent personal experience).
If not, please post your CBS.log file here so wiser heads can inspect and make a different diagnosis.
