How To Select Multiple Areas Of Text

I'm looking for a way to select a few lines of text, or just a few words, and then select another line/word somewhere else in the same paragraph.

it's similar to how you can do this in file explorer

    What it should look like

If my explanation didn't make sense, then the question here is literally what I'm looking for.

I'm aware that some programs like word and firefox allow you to do this, but I'm looking for a more universal method.

If no native Windows method exists, then if there's a script or a program that I can download to make this work, then please tell me of it.

Hold down the Ctrl key to select the lines or partial lines one at a time. Just tried it and it works.

Where did you try it? Other than firefox, word, outlook, and another few programs it doesn't do anything...

Multiple selections have to be supported by the code of the program displaying the text. Firefox and some others do support this. Notepad and Wordpad are examples that don't.

I tried it here in my Browser, which is Seamonkey. Also works in Firefox. Doesn't work in IE or Edge it seems. Does work in Word so I guess it's hit or miss.

So my question is asking for a universal solution is what I'm saying.

There is no way to universally add multiple selection. Notepad and Wordpad are basic programs with limited features for basic tasks. In text editors multiple selection tends to be an advanced feature. Multiple selection could be added to these programs but it would be impractical for anyone but Microsoft to do so. I can't see that happening.

If you want multiple selection in a text editor you will need to find one that has this feature. Microsoft Word and some others have this feature.

You misunderstand. What I want is kinda like ctrl+c/v (no matter which program you use, you'll always have the option to ctrl+c/v text, even if the program never programmed the feature in, because its a feature at the windows level). Its also like if I change the keyboard layout in windows settings to lets say dvorak, ill now be able to type in dvorak no matter in which program I'm in, including notepad (notepad didn't have to program in a dvorak feature, windows just tells notepad that I typed a 'u' when I press the home row left index finger key ('f')). In the same way that these 2 examples work universally (at the windows (and not the program) level), I'm looking for a universal way to select multiple non-cosecutive strings.

And you are misunderstanding the answers. To be able to use Ctrl+C the way you want you first have to select multiple sections of text. It is the ability to do this that has to be in the code of the text editor you are using - Notepad just doesn't have the code in it to allow this.
