    Does anything work

I know I am new to Windows 10 and I have used windows of some kind for over 30 years. Right now I am freaking confused. I have only had Windows 10 for just over a week.

For a week I have been trying to install Office and get the 1935 every time. Microsoft has no plan to fix that issue.

I was going to use Google Docs online as it works very similar to Office Excel and Word. When I first created the account, I used my Google name and password for Docs. For some reason now it does not recognize that and I can not create a new account for Docs. Google says they will contact me within 5 work days (heard that story before)

A few minutes ago, I tried to restore the windows 10 pc to a restore point I had created earlier. Crap that failed also.

I think eventually I will get to like Windows 10, but right now I could scream when things I have done a 1000 times do not work.

Hi, System Restore restoration is notoriously unreliable when restoring and has been so commented repeatedly here.

You can try starting from Safe Mode or booting to Advanced Startup options and the System Restore option via e.g. SHIFT + left click Restart and carefully navigating prompts. However, still no guarantee.

We have pointed you to info on the 1935 error - if you cannot use MS Office, there are free office suites available.

WPS office behaves very much like Word, Excel.
Then there's Libre Office, and others.

Oh well another notch in Microsoft's belt. Would think after 2 yrs things would be working better.
I know in Windows 7 using a restore point rarely or if ever failed.

Note that System Restore is off by default. One wonders if that's MS being aware it may not work well.
You can research the error number of course.

Hence the common recommendation here to use disk imaging routinely. Not the same thing, but reliable.

This the kicker .. according to Microsoft there is no fix to Error 1935 being planned anytime soon.

Also so I have tried installing the free office softwares and I get the same 1935 Error.

Make sure to install VisualC++ and NET Framework.

If you want a stable 10, get the latest supported version (2 upgrades behind), currently 1709.

"I have only had Windows 10 for just over a week. … For a week I have been trying to install Office"
--- I need clarification on what that means.
--- Is your Windows 10 a new computer, an upgrade from a prior version or an install from some Windows 10 install media?

On the Office program, where is it from and what version is it?
--- If it was purchased from the Microsoft Store, it's possible to have it installed from them but I don't know if that will work on older versions: so the key is as requested, where is it from and what version is it?

As TairikuOkami mentions "get the latest supported version"
@TairikuOkami, I have Microsoft Home and Student 2016 that I purchased and downloaded from the Microsoft Store.
--- I don't see Visual C++ or Net Framework in Programs and Features
--- Could that be because I have an update Office program & WU's up-to-date?

Net Framework is in Windows Features. As for VisualC++, when software installs some of its libraries for itself, it does not show up as installed. It is best to install all to avoid problems.

Choose between the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office
Choose between the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office - Office Support

It might be good to know what version of Office you want to use.
--- The above link pertains only to Office 2019, Office 2016 & Office 365.
