Can I retrieve data from old computer Hard Drive?

My older laptop can not start therefore I thought by using News laptop with Windows 10 if, I can retrieve data from older Hard Drive?
Before doing that I want to ask:
1. Is it safe to retrieve data from old computer Hard Drive?
2. To use older Hard Drive I got to buy Hard Drive Case with USB/AC adopter(if required)?
and is it ATA or SATA , 2.5 inch. You can refer Hard Drive image and guide me.

You will a USB to sata adapter cable. It should be safe as long as the drive isn't affected with any viruses or such. The link is for the USA but it will give you a idea of what you need.

You can connect it OK the problem will be the rights to folders on the drive will be user of the laptop so you will need to take ownership of folders before you can get the data

I don't remember having to do anything except to click on open folder anyway or something to that affect. It's been awhile since I've look at any drives from another computer.

I think it's 2.5". Can you post a picture of where the cable plugs in?

Hi, thanks again. For taking picture I got to open the Hard Drive again which is not possible right now sorry. I have checked on other websites and they say usually laptop got 2.5 inch.

After reading that I thought I should buy the Hard Drive case from Amazon Japan.
