    I do not know if 9.5 mm and 7 mm are ok for the HD link you have provided?
    You should be just fine. 9.5mm and 7mm are very common 2.5" HDD heights. There are a few 12mm high 2.5" HDDs, but they are very rare. Your HDD coming out of a laptop is 90% guaranteed to not be 12mm.

    Hi, I have posted 2 photos (in another post) would you please take a look if that is older or normal HDD?
    If I know what kind of pin they are which are plugged in then I can easily buy and external HDD case to retrieve data easily.
    Thank you once again.

    Hi there

    @Ari94

    Sata-->USB2 or Usb3 (better if you have USB3) will work just fine -- I use a few of those old laptop HDD's for some backups etc with the cable. I even use external SSD's with the same sort of cable -- should be zero problems -- no case etc needed just attach cable to HDD and usb slot and you are in business. Usually very cheap too. You can ignore the pins at the right hand side of your photo just connect the sata interface (slots into the plug) and then insert usb end into usb port on computer.

    Cable should look something like this

    Hi, I completely forgot something important. As in my newly posted 2 photos you can see a green side. When I want to use old HDD am I suppose to remove everything from the HDD then insert in the USB 2.5 inch HDD external case or when connecting with the Adapter?
    At present I have just removed the HDD from computer and had removed the hard drive bezel.
    Any suggestions.
    Thank you

    Hi there

    @Ari94

    No -- just as is -- plug the sata end to the sata interface and usb into computer. Don't disassemble the HDD -- OK it doesn't look nice and smart out of a case but who cares -- it will work fine.

    Cheers

    Hi, thanks a lot for the quick reply with image and details. You are a life saver. I had been banging my head to know about HDD's pin by watching YouTube videos and referring websites but you have guided me properly. I prefer to buy from Amazon Japan as these kinds of things are not available at Electronic shops normally.
    Should I say it is a 2.5 inch HDD SATA adapter cable when I search for it?
    Thanks once again.
