windows 10 photo viewer, get rid of scroll effect ?

    Hey all,

so i installed windows 10 home on a new ssd from scratch, all is going great except the image viewer is making me a bit dizzy from the scrolling while viewing images.

i'm thinking there must be a way to disable that effect when changing pictures and just have them appear , or fade in, fade out ?

Or if you have alternative apps to suggest that does roughly the same thing, like fullscreen, copy/move images or folders of images, yunno to manage the collection, that'd be appreciated.

    cheers!

    Hi there

The scroll should only work from WITHIN the application if you use the Mouse scroll wheel. You might be able to set mouse settings.

On a Touch screen just slide the pictures.

    Cheers

    Hi
If it is the Photos app that is the default viewer on windows 10 which you are refering to and you prefered the Windows Photo Viewer app of previous windows operating systems then you could do this.
Copy the following code into notepad and save it as a .reg file then merge it.

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open]
    "MuiVerb"="@photoviewer.dll,-3043"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\command]

    Hi there

There is NO photoviewer app in builds 10240 onwards (including RTM).

It's now Photos (a Metro / modern GUI type app) - and IMO is far better than the old photoviewer app. Launch it from the Tiles on the Menu.

You CAN pin it to the desktop if you don't want to launch from the Menu -- it's a bit involved to do it but it's do-able, I'll Post later.

Ms Paint still works (Just type Paint anywhere in the menu area) or you could install Irfanview (free).

    Cheers

    Hi there

That's fine but those files photoviewer.xxxjust don't exist any more on the system (at least if you have done a clean RTM install they don't).

I have a clean RTM install and his suggestion worked, although the photo viewer is a little buggy (aesthetically).

I was looking for fade in and fade out since I lost it on Vista. I could not find it for 7. I have just found Windows Photo Gallery. Its hard to find the settings, but its there and awesome.

It's not a bad app, I just have to get use to the new look.

By pressing edit, you have a lot more features that weren't available on the old viewer.
    I'm starting to like it.
