windows 10 photo viewer, get rid of scroll effect ?

If it is the Photos app that is the default viewer on windows 10 which you are refering to and you prefered the Windows Photo Viewer app of previous windows operating systems then you could do this.
Copy the following code into notepad and save it as a .reg file then merge it.

This will then give you the option to use Windows Photo Viewer when you select "open with"

Can't seem to get this to work for some reason. It states that "the specified file is not a registry script."

There is NO photoviewer app in builds 10240 onwards (including RTM).

It's now Photos (a Metro / modern GUI type app) - and IMO is far better than the old photoviewer app. Launch it from the Tiles on the Menu.

You CAN pin it to the desktop if you don't want to launch from the Menu -- it's a bit involved to do it but it's do-able, I'll Post later.

Ms Paint still works (Just type Paint anywhere in the menu area) or you could install Irfanview (free).

LOL! Thanks Gary. Was just coming back here to post that exact link. It is easy to do and works great. I actually edited my Registry manually rather than downloading their program :)

I agree completely. The slide in/slide out effect gives me a headache,too, when flicking through images.

Basically this is a good app but because of the scrolling action (instead of simply replacing the image) it's unusable for searching in a pile of images. To turn this effect off, go to "Settings" > "Easy of Access" and select the tab "Other options". There you can disable "Play animations in Windows". Of course, this will disable all UI animations, but I can live with that drawback.

Alternatively, I'd like there was OS X "Preview" on Windows...but I have yet to meet the Windows feature fairy...
