Yes, copy all of your personal files to some other disk. Programs and system folders will be useless in new system.

Copying everything will not help but if you want you can mage whole system backup using Macrium Reflect free.

It will make an .mrimg file that you can mount and copy anything out of it or even return system to what it was at the time of making the disk image. That file will be somewhat smaller than total of disk that was imaged.
Look up the thread(s) with MR in them.

So many DVDs, What for ? You should have put image file on that external disk drive. You need only one CD or USB stick to put MR rescue files on so you can boot from it.
